Another Writing Exercise and My Random Title Generator

I’ve posted another recording of a writing exercise I did. Work on upgrades to my random title generator have hit a wall.

Writing Exercise

I wrote, recorded, and posted my writing exercise “A Romantic Interlude with a Svelte Teamster”.

It was a bit of a different kind of story from what I had been writing. That was a challenge, but the idea with exercises is to stretch your thoughts a bit. Most of the exercises I’ve done turn into adventure or detective stories. I made some changes to my random title generator to make titles that pointed in other directions. Mostly the additions were toward romantic stories. I’d like to come up with changes that imply other types of stories. Suggestions are welcome.

Random Title Generator

I’ve stalled on changes to my random title generator. The changes that people suggested were to prefill the title, so you don’t need to press any of the buttons, and to have buttons to move back to earlier versions of the title.

It looks like it will be very difficult to make those changes. Usually when I take on a project like this, I can usually search and find examples on the Internet that show how to do what I want. The problem I have is that I don’t know how to describe what I want. Everything I tried turned up examples that were for a different problem. I found a way to preload a random title, but it doesn’t work in WordPress.

I did make a minor change though. The first part of the title is usually something like “The Case of the…”. I felt that some people might not like to have that specific, so I put in a button that changes the first part to either a “The” or an “A(n)”.
