Our short film “The Urgent Phone Call” is on its way to being ready to show. I finished and posted another writing exercise: “The Desire of the Ageless Handyperson” this week.
“The Urgent Phone Call”
We shot the short film, “The Urgent Phone Call” on 2024 August 31 in the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers Flex Space (www.CSIF.org). The project is now in post-production.
As writer/producer I didn’t want to undermine the director’s authority by being there for the shoot. So, I decided to wait until their lunch break.
Unfortunately, that was when I had my car problem. I did get there, but a bit later than planned. They had finished the shoot early and the set had already been dismantled. I got some of the left-over lunch food though. They told me they were quite happy with how the shoot went.
The project was sparked by discussions we had in the CSIF’s Older Filmmaker’s Club. This is the second project that has come out of the club. Most of the people who worked on the film are members of the club.
